08.18 Official results from the Ministry of Interior with 99.80 percent of votes counted: SYRIZA gets 36.34 percent (149 seats), New Democracy 27.81 percent (76 seats), Golden Dawn 6.28 percent (17 seats), To Potami 6.05 percent (17 seats), The Greek Communist Party (KKE) at 5.47 percent (15 seats), Independent Greeks at 4.75 percent (13 seats), PASOK stands at 4.68 percent (13 seats). George Papandreou’s newly formed Kinima gets 2.46 percent but fails to enter Parliament. 08.24 With 67.35 percent of the votes counted absention stood at 37.32 percent. According to the Ministry of Interior, 62.68 percent of 9.8 million registered Greek voters proceeded to polling stations yesterday. 08.45 SYRIZA chief Alexis Tsipras to meet with Independent Greeks Panos Kammenos at 10.30 a.m.The two reportedly talked in the early hours of Monday in view of forming a coalition. 09.11 Constantinos Tsoukalas, Ourania Antonopoulou, Panos Skourletis, Aglaia Kyritsi and Nikolaos Toskas enter Parliament through SYRIZA’s state list. George Papandreou’s Kinima fails to reach the 3 percent threshold, gets 2.46 percent, and is not elected to the House. The same goes for the Ecologist Greens-Democratic Left alliance (0.49 percent) and the Popular Orthodox Rally, LAOS (1.03 percent). 12.59 Alexis Tsipras expected to be sworn in as Prime Minister at 4 p.m. 13.35 Petros Tatsopoulos announces his retirement from politics on Facebook, after failing to get elected on Potami ticket. His daughter confirms his death in French daily Le Figaro. Roussos was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1946. 14.29 Alexis Tsipras arrives at the Athens Archdiocese for a meeting with Archbishop Ieronymos. 14.33 "There are internal eurozone rules to be respected," IMF chief Christine Lagarde tells Le Monde daily, in reference to Greece. He was admitted to hospital yesterday when he felt unwell after casting his ballot. He is expected to be released from hospital tomorrow.

15.29 Alexis Tsipras arrives at the Presidential Mansion. 15.34 To Potami founder Stavros Theodorakis announces meeting with Prime Minister-elect Alexis Tsipras at 7 p.m. In comments to the press Theodorakis says today marks the first time the formation of a new government is announced through the leader of the election’s sixth party winner, in reference to earlier comments by Independent Greeks chief Panos Kammenos following a morning meeting with Tsipras. 15.44 Tsipras to become the 6th Prime Minister to be sworn in by President Karolos Papoulias during the latter's tenure. 15.45 SYRIZA chief tells President Papoulias that he has required House majority to form government. 16.01 Alexis Tsipras sworn in as Prime Minister. 16.06 New Greek premier leaves Presidential Mansion following civil oath.
