Turkish troops cross into Iraq to hunt down Kurdish rebels

Turkish troops have crossed into northern Iraq in an attempt to flush out separatist Kurdish rebels. According to Turkish military sources, 300 troops pursued PKK rebels a few miles into the Gali Rash area, a mountainous district near the border. The move comes after Turkish warplanes bombed villages in northern Iraq over the weekend. Iraq complained that at least one civilian woman had been killed in the weekend strikes, and emphasised that it wanted any future military action to be coordinated with Baghdad. Meanwhile US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has arrived in northern Iraq on an unannounced visit. FROM d.welle
