Advertiser Adelaide: Greeks want PM apology

From ERT:

02 Mar 2007 12:23:00: Greek-Australian citizens and local parliamentarians have condemned the recent statements made by Australian Prime Minister John Howard, in which he compared Iraq to Greece with respect to the issue of terrorism. On Wednesday, Greek-Australian federal Labor party MP, Steve Georganas personally lashed out against Mr. Howard in Parliament stating that “Australian citizens of Greek descent, many of whom have voted for me are terribly angry over Howard’s statement”. Georganas underlined that it is unbelievable for the PM to compare Iraq, which claims at least three thousand lives per month with Greece. The MP noted that the Greek government implements all the necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens, and specified that Greece is one of the safest places in the world. In addition, Georganas pointed out that over one hundred thousand Australians visit Greece each year….without anyone’s safety having ever been threatened. Finally he stressed that Howard’s statement was terribly insulting and highly condemned.απο την σελίδα johnmetaxas.com. lornion.blogspot.com
