Coalition of the Left disagrees with Diaspora vote bill

The Coalition of the Left's parliamentary deputy, Fotis Kouvelis has sent a written document to Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos, detailing his opposition to specific provisions in the draft bill providing for Greeks living abroad to vote in the general elections.

According to Kouvelis, this procedure would make a permanent resident abroad equal to an inhabitant of any electoral district. It would also deprive Diaspora Greeks of having their own representative in parliament, who would come from abroad. In addition, Kouvelis notes that no special provisions have been made with the reception countries to ensure that the ideas and political rights of all parties are smoothly and equally disseminated.

It is clarified that the Coalition of the Left supports giving the vote to Greeks living abroad, but only if certain conditions are met.
